Coronavirus or COVID-19 Current School Update

Hi Parents and Caregivers

Attached is the latest information that our school has in regards to the recent COVID-19 pandemic. This was sent home today in paper copy with all our eldest children in each family.  We will continue to update you as we know more information.  Please take time to read this update thoroughly. This update may also require your family to return an information slip or update our current emergency details for your family.  Please check your child’s bags.

Thanks

Patrice O’Connor

Principal of Greytown School.

Coronavirus update Wednesday 18th March 2020

Can you help?

Hi everyone

If you know anything about these two items that have gone missing today we would love to know.

Our New Zealand School Flag has been taken from our flag pole and was replaced with a sweatshirt overnight.  If anyone in our community hears anything or finds it please let us know.

A black Oakly Flexi fit cap has gone missing with a logo on the left-hand side.  Unfortunately, this went missing from lunchtime today from a child’s bag. It is incredibly special to the family as it belonged to a grandparent who recently passed away and handed it down.  If you see a black Oakly hat please return it to our office.

Otherwise, enjoy your weekend!

School Finishes early for Learning Conferences

Just a reminder that school finishes at 12.00pm today for Learning Conferences.

There is still time to book in, simply go online www.schoolinterviews.co.nz and use the code kja93 or alternatively you can ring the school office.

School buses will run as normal and bus children can stay in the library supervised until 3 pm.

Look forward to seeing you either tonight or tomorrow.

Important Information for the start of 2020 school year.

We are excited as the 2020 school year starts tomorrow.
Welcome back to all our families and a special welcome to all our new families who are joining us this year.

Important notices:

School grounds open at 8.00 am tomorrow with classes starting at 8.50 am for learning.

The first day is going to be a hot 29 degrees. Please make sure you apply sunscreen to your child/re before school and include their hats, drink bottle (freezing it or adding ice cubes is also a great trick!) and suitable clothing. If your child has any allergies to sunscreen please let your teacher know as we will be encouraging children to reapply at lunchtime.

Please bring any medication to the office eg: asthma inhalers, hay fever medication, EpiPens etc

Kowhai and Kawaka Yr 0-4 students will start swimming tomorrow so please include their togs. All other children will start on Tuesday at the Greytown Town Pools.

If your child has been unwell they need to refrain from swimming for at least 48hours before swimming.

As a preventative (as we do not know everyone’s holiday travel plans) we are asking any families that have visited any infected areas where the coronavirus is present, or anyone who has been in contact with someone with the virus does not attend school for two weeks. Likewise, if you have any flu-like symptoms we ask that you stay at home and if you are concerned please contact your local GP.

Please remember School will be closed on Thursday for Waitangi Day and Friday for a Teacher Only Day. If your child is absent at any other time please contact our office or use our school website or app to record their absence.

We look forward to seeing everyone ready to go for another wonderful year.
